Your personal journey

I have titled this post as such because we all have a slightly different path in this life to follow and at the end of the day even though we share experiences here and with friends, how we experience things in this life is a very personal thing.

Some people could be forgiven for thinking that because that the future is going to happen anyway that they themselves haven’t got much to do. This is not really the case, let me give an example.

What is awareness?

Down the road someone opens a new shop, then a few days later you walk past it, now just by walking past the shop you have seen it or you may of, in fact missed it because you were thinking about something and you just didn’t see it. Either way the shop is still there whether you saw it or not, the shop exists.

If you didn’t see it then you are not aware it exists. If it closed tomorrow you would be none the wiser as you never saw it in the first place.

The following day you walk past it again, this time you do see it and in fact go in and look around so now not only are you aware the shop exists but now you know what it sells. The difference between being aware or unaware is that simple. The act of being aware of something alone will cause a reaction. Being actively aware means doing something about it, like going into the shop.

Very little is required of you but the following will give you a good start.

Belief: You need to not only believe in yourself but in what you do, your are in your own right an amazing magical being, and are capable of many things.

Intent: Whether it is healing or anything else you do your intention is key, whatever you intend to do will happen, your intention is a powerful tool.

Commitment: Follow through on everything you do, research, read, ask questions, only by doing so can you expand your knowledge and make informed choices and decisions.

By being aware you see more of the whole picture.

Hi folks, I'm Back

It's been a while but now I feel it's time to pick up where I left off.

But firstly I must thank everyone that sent e-mails and who left comments on the blog while I've been away.

And also to Angeleyes, my wife, for her support and strength during the past months.

Got loads to tell and lots to do so welcome back to Scruffyhippo Blog...........

How often have you put off doing what you really want to do, maybe it's the money or lack of it, or not enough time, maybe you have said maybe next week or next month or even next year, what it is the you are yearning to do or achieve, then do it, live has a way of making you take stock of where you are and what you are doing, even heart attacks have reasons beyond the health implications, think about it, what is it you really want to do but never seem to get around to?

Anouncement

Hi everyone, you may of notice little being posted at the moment and have some bad news for readers of Scruffyhippo's blog.

Scruffyhippo was taken into hospital last week suffering with a heart attack and it has taken us all by surprise as he was always busy and very active with a lot of time for everyone.

He is now stable and is due back out today but he has already told me that he will be absent from the internet for a time while he recovers.

I will myself be checking for comments, but in the mean time have opened the comments for the regulars, if you have already left comments in the last week and they have not yet been added, bear with me as I am myself quite new to this and end up having to ask Scruffyhippo dozens of questions.

New Home Coming

Well after much heart searching and deliberation, I have decided to move this blog, so in the near future Scruffyhippo's Blog will be on Wordpress with a new look.

Since I re-done the main website I really wanted to have the blog looking the same but with blogger that's impossible and I am now learning how to create a wordpress theme from scratch.

It should be no big deal as I have learnt my basic php coding on phpbb forums and created the website theme based on the forums, the pictures below will give you an idea what the blog will look like once it's all done, a cleaner and brighter look.

This is the current Home page

This is the forums theme

In the mean time I will still be posting here so keep an eye out for more unique articles

Heartfelt words

I started to do the post I wanted here for tonight and I sort of got carried away and have been writing for 2 hours and still not finished it, so I may save it for the weekend :)

So instead browsing through my word files to see what I could use, I came across the words I wrote for my wedding, adapted from something I found years ago, now I know the groom doesn't normally do a speech other than the usual thankyou's etc but I did, and the following was aimed squarely at my new bride.

****************

Before we met, you and I were halves unjoined except in the wide rivers of our minds.

We were each other's distant shore, the opposite wings of a bird, the other half of a seashell.

We did not know the other then, did not know our determination to keep alive the cry of one riverbank to the other.

We were apart, yet connected in our ignorance of each other, like two apples sharing a common tree.

I knew you existed long before you understood my desire to join my freedom to yours.

Our paths collided long enough for our indecision to be swallowed up by the greater need of love.

When you came to me, the sun surged towards the earth and moon escaped from darkness to bless the union of two spirits, so alike that the creator had designed them for life's endless circle.

Beloved partner, keeper of my heart's odd secrets, clothed in summer blossoms so the icy hand of winter never touches us.

I thank your patience.

Our joining is like a tree to earth, a cloud to sky and even more.

We are the reason the world can laugh on its battlefields and rise from the ashes of its selfishness to hear me say,
in this time,
in this place,
in this way - I love you.

You may need a new psychic if.....

YOU MAY NEED A NEW PSYCHIC IF...

* He keeps shaking his black crystal ball and says, "try again later."

* Looks suspiciously like that guy who fixed your car last week.

* His idea of an "out of body experience" involves whipped cream and women's clothing.

* His spoon bending requires two pairs of pliers.

* Sign in window: "Enter at your own risk”

* During card-reading, asks if you want to "stick" or "twist."

* Insists that your astrological sign is "The Armadillo."

* Psychics Magazine rates her just below fortune cookies, just above your mum.

* Shakes her crystal ball, then predicts a large snowstorm.

Yes I know some of them are old one's but they still make me smile

How to make someone feel worthy

You may of noticed that in the last week this blog has received two awards, they have been proudly pinned up on the right >>>>>
I must admit I was totally shocked to get them as I never win anything, well, until now that is :)

It made everything I do here worthwhile and has given me a renewed passion to give more on this blog.

In light of those awards the rules seem to be that now I have been awarded them it falls to me to pass them on so I am actively looking for 4 bloggers, 2 guys to pass on the 'awesome guy blogger award' and 2 girls to pass on the ' rockin Girl blogger award' and that's not all I will be looking for one blogger that I can pass on the 'Nice Matters' award.

As if that wasn't enough work, I have updated an award we have been handing out for the last 3 years on the main website psychicvisions.org to include blog websites.

Now this is not handed out lightly, in fact in the last three years I have only awarded this 12 times, they are dated and coded so others cannot copy them and use them. (to see one in use go to our home page at psychicvisions.org ).

How do you get one? you can't, but you can be nominated, or you can nominate your favourite website or weblog.

Only one each month will ever be awarded.

10 Things I would like to do before I die

Life can seem so short when you want to do many things, at 49 years of age my list is still as long as it was when I was 29, so I compiled a short list of the things I would like to do in this life time below.

These are the 10 things in no particular order.

1. I've never really travelled much so would love to do Egypt and a trip to Kenya.

2. Learn to fly a helicopter, (I took flying lessons and can fly a plane already).

3. Learn to swim and go scuba diving, (49 and swim like a brick with holes in).

4. Swim with dolphins, (this of course depends on 3)

5. Publish a book, (have written down a few ideas and started one but thats it).

6. Find the meaning of life, (ok this may not happen, but I'm working on it).

7. Have enough space to keep at least a dozen retired Greyhounds.

8. See a volcano in action.

9. Try fresh lobster.

10.Drive a decent car that doesn't always seem to break down or need repairing.

A meme is an idea, project, statement or even a question that is posted by one blog and responded to by other blogs. Although the term encompasses much of the natural flow of communication in the Blogosphere, there are active bloggers and blog sites that are dedicated to the creation of memes on a regular basis, so a meme involves 'tagging' someone else to do a post on your given subject, in this case '10 Things I would like to do before I die' .

This is our first and for this I tag Lisa. See lisa's entries Here

The Moon

If the sun is the most important of the celestial bodies for the inhabitants of the earth, the Moon is undoubtedly the most mysterious. As opposed to the life-giving properties and warmth of the sun, the Moon is said to give out a mystical power, and to rule over growth, the hidden processes of nature, the hollow spaces of the earth, and the movements of all the fluid elements within and upon the earth’s surface.

I find the moon a very spiritual light it can change everything around you in it's glow.

A fellow blogger has some brilliant pictures of the moon phases, take a look and see what you think :)

78 Card Spread

For some years I have known of a tarot spread that involves all 78 cards called the 'Tree of Life' spread although never really got much further, after a bit of research I found a book explaining the spread and it is known as 'Rahdue's Wheel'. I have layed out the cards in the following picture and as you can see takes up a lot of space.

The next post will explain the layout order and the meaning of each position.

The layout could take hours to read fully and is not for the faint hearted, for some time I have been looking for a spread to use for life path readings and this could be it.

New Look website

Due to re-building my main website at http://www.psychicvisions.org/ I haven't had time to post here as well, I have now finished about 50% of the pages onto the new template and now the new forum is open for registrations again.

I am having a rest from the blog, to give more time to the website and the many pages I want to write for it, so to keep an eye what I'm doing go to the website on the link above.

Angeleyes will still be doing readings by request, but now only on our main website for the moment.

Blog Update May

I have been finding it hard to get on here a keep the posts up to date with all my other commitments and websites, http://www.psychicvisions.org has been causing some problems for a while now and the forums have been running to slow, so I decided to put a new forum on my other server.
Now with 180 odd members on the old forums the migration to the new one has begun, but now I need to update the rest of the website because it no longer matches the forums !!!!.

This is a massive undertaking and could take a while as I have to build a style sheet to match the forums then create a htm template for all the site pages, 100's of them !!!

Anyone out there that can build a css quickly from a phpbb template let me know could save me some time.

Angeleyes has agreed to keep doing readings for here for the time being but little else will be posted unless I get the time.

Reading something Different

Over the years I've studied many forms of divination and The cards have alway been a firm favourite of mine.

I have looked at the runes and also reading crystals, recently looked at everything from dominos to I Ching (the one with the sticks)

Over the last few weeks I have had this idea in my head of using Mah Jong to do readings with but up until now have not seen a set I could happily use.

I am now the proud owner of a early set of Mah Jong tiles (see picture below) it may take me a while to work out how I intend doing the reading but I can assure you, you will be the first to hear about it :)

Blog Update

You may of noticed a lack of articles in the last few weeks, but all of a sudden I got really busy with many things.

It started off with my first few reiki students on the Saturday before easter which went really well, only to lose my full time job on Tuesday (didn't see that coming) well actually I did, sort of ... walked out :)

With that and the circles we are running time seemed to vanish before my eyes, Easter came and went, and started working again, back to my own jobs (carpenter by trade) which of course takes up even more time, which sort of brings us up to date.

In that time have started another website for the Reiki http://www.2worldsholistic.co.uk and taking many bookings for courses already.

On top of all that is all the wedding arrangments for 4th of August (Yes I am getting married) and now the Psychic Visions Summer Event is looming and final bookings need to be sorted for that to, it's a wonder I get on here at all!!!

Add to that the new online workshops, reading nights and circle we will be doing on the Psychic Visions Website I could do with a few more hours in the day.

But I love it ........ it's a buzz being busy, and helping teach others as well as learning much myself, if I think about it theres not much I would change ( except maybe the speed the clock goes round)

I did say on the last Reading of the Week that A funny thing happened when I was copying that reading for the site.... well I myself took all of the reading, yep must of been meant for me too, rare that I get one, most people that know me don't like reading for a tarot teacher so have to go out of the area to get a unbiased reading ( may have to ask the talented Roswila for a reading one day) anyway enough gabble for now.

Where does the easter bunny come from?

Easter is annual festival commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the principal feast of the Christian year. It is celebrated on a Sunday on varying dates between March 22 and April 25 and is therefore called a movable feast.

The origin of its name is unknown.

Scholars, however, accepting the derivation proposed by the 8th-century English scholar St Bede, believe it probably comes from "Eostre", the Anglo-Saxon name of a Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility, to whom was dedicated a month corresponding to April.

Her festival was celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox; traditions associated with the festival survive in the Easter rabbit, a symbol of fertility, and in coloured Easter eggs, originally painted with bright colours to represent the sunlight of spring, and used in Easter-egg-rolling contests or given as gifts.

Such festivals, and the stories and legends that explain their origin, were common in ancient religions. A Greek legend tells of the return of Persephone, daughter of Demeter, goddess of the earth, from the underworld to the light of day; her return symbolized to the ancient Greeks the resurrection of life in the spring after the desolation of winter.

Many ancient peoples shared similar legends. The Phrygians believed that their omnipotent deity went to sleep at the time of the winter solstice, and they performed ceremonies with music and dancing at the spring equinox to awaken him.

Time verses Money

I had a long chat with someone today about charging money for what I do (tarot readings etc).....

Two and a half years ago I opened the website www.psychicvisions.org and even then it cost me a fair bit and has done so ever since, in that time I would say I have spent 1000,s of hours building the site, writing pages and spending countless evenings in the chat rooms teaching tarot, doing readings etc etc etc....all for free

As a Reiki master I now teach reiki, but for many years felt charging for healing wasn't for me so whoever needed it I was there, my distance healing list grows daily and never once did I think about the cost.........

Most of us work so charging is not always an issue, but there are many readers, healers, astrologers etc etc out there that don't work full time and rely on an income from what they do.

I work full time so I have an income, but still charge for tarot readings, and Reiki courses and other workshops I do, I still don't charge for healing, but I don't actively advertise it and besides are you paying for healing or the healers time?

The website still takes up a lot of my time, ..... has it made me any money? well no , unless you count the £2.89 I have made from the Amazon links............

Many of us do this because we care, and in my case because it's my passion and I enjoy it.....

If I ever give up full time work I would also charge for healing, or should I say charge for my time, up to now 80% of what I do, I do free.

This person I was talking to was asked if he would work 5 days a week and only get paid for one and he shugged and said of course not, I replied with "On top of that would you pay for the privalege of going to work?"... he laughed

So told him what I do already for free is around 80% of what I charge for and then pay out Hundreds each year to run the websites and the development circles and the healing.........

I could go on but think you get the point, he didn't press me for his free reading...... come to think of it he changed the subject..................................

Development Circle

Tonight was our second Spiritual and Psychic Development Circle held in public at the local village hall and already our numbers have increased.

Tonight was my turn to lead the circle/workshop, and after having a heated debate with my computer ( was trying to burn a disc with sound effects) decided to work with cards and crystals.

The theme was 'imagination and colour' and was amazed at the quality of some of the readings and information coming from basic pictures and gem stones, it goes to show that even if you have no keywords as you do in some cards or established meanings as you would with tarot, it is still possible to 'read' other forms of objects or cards.

Most of our group are beginners but already see a few with real potental, we are now running one every other Thursday so if you are local to us in Essex pay us a visit, you can keep up to date with the events page on my site Click Here

Although we will be doing a similar thing in our online chat rooms in the very near future too Click Here to join

Everyone seems to enjoy the live sessions and having three of us as circle leaders helps with the diversity of subjects, well done everyone keep up the good work.
